Draconian Censorship Bill Proposed for SA !

A harsh new bill proposed by the Liberals would amongst other things,
criminalise anyone who placed content with "adult themes"online.
Material that would be rated"R" if it were a film and legally available,
will be ILLEGAL online, even if it is accesed only by an adult!
In other words the World Wide Web in SA will soon become "Charlotte's Web"
with only material suitable for kids allowed!

For more information check out Electronic Frontiers Australia's analysis.

The question of whether such a bill directly threatens this site itself remains to be seen!

Increasingly sucesful attempts censorship of books magazines and the internet are slowly eroding our right of freedom of speech and expression.

What is now objectionable for minors on the internet will soon be deemed illegal for adults as well under a draconian SA law currently proposed by the Liberal Govt!

Our basic civil liberties and human rights are under attack from John Howard's US-inspired "Tough on Drugs" policy. Any material they deem illegal, immoral or promoting a criminal activity can be banned. Thus the legendary comic strip the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers and Fat Freddy's Cat are banned (!) along with books on medical Marijuana, and growing guides.

The HEMP bookclub has been closed down in Qld and most of the titles once available are no longer on sale in Oz. Banning "how to grow" books, will only ensure that the 75% of South Australians who don't grow their own, are going to remain customers of the black market and organised crime.

Harm reduction means reducing harms associated with using Cannabis.
One of the formost - having to deal with the black market adulterated pot, or pot poisoned by pesticides can best be dealt with by "seizing control of the means of production" and growing your own - without the toxic chemicals.

Although information on this topic is now heavily censored by the Australian government and harder to find in shops it is still protected in the United States under their First Amendment.
